Lachepas.com is a site for teens to gather after the tragedies that have resulted from Hurricane Katrina. It is the result of an idea by L. Kris Gowen, who has written two books for teens - Making Sexual Decisions, and Image and Identity: Becoming the Person You Are (both available from www.scarecrowpress.com). Kris is an expert in adolescent health with a PhD in Child and Adolescent Development from Stanford University. In addition to her author experience, she has been featured in several magazines, such as Teen People, Young and Modern, and Redbook, as an authority on topics such as sexual health, sex education and body image. She currently teaches in the Department of Community Health at Portland State University.
In addition to Kris, many other people have helped make this site possible. Many authors, especially psychologist Dr. Molly McKenna, have contributed work to this site. Free hosting has been provided by www.thinkhost.com and everything about this site is the result of volunteer time and effort.
